Pattern update!

The pattern now includes all the information to make the rug in rope.  I've made a smaller version, stopping part way through the pattern as well as remaking the whole rug.

The pattern also now includes charts!

I have wanted to make a floor rug for a very long time, so when I saw some super bulky yarn, I jumped at the chance to have a play.  Radiance is the result.

For the original yarn version, I used super bulky acrylic yarn with a 9 mm crochet hook. My rug measures about 129 cm (51") from point to point.

For the Scalloped Edge Small Rope version I used 346 metres of 3mm recycled cotton rope and a 10 mm hook. (1 roll = 139 m/152 yds)
140 cm (55”) Star Pointed Large

For the Large Rope version, I used 595 metres of 3mm recycledcotton rope and a 10 mm hook. (1 roll = 139 m/152 yds)

Fine cotton works well for a lacier, more traditional doily look.

The pattern works up quite fast with only 31 rounds in total.

As always, I have provided the pattern in both UK & US terms so you can pick what you are most comfortable with.

I have made the pattern as print-friendly as I can, so you can choose to just print the written pattern and refer to the pictures on your screen if you need to check anything.

Love Radiance

I really love this pattern. It's easy to follow & a joy to work up. I've made a small rug with T-shirt yarn, also a large rug for someone else using t-shirt yarn & I made a blanket for my sister which I improvised squaring off to make larger. Beautiful design, well written, Love it!

My all-time favourite make

I have just been looking through Shelley's patterns and saw the opportunity to leave a review for the radiance rug. I made this rug a couple of years ago and it is resplendent on my bedroom floor. I made it in a super chunky dark brown Icelandic wool and it is absolutely stunning. The pattern is very easy to follow - Shelley is a talented designer and skilled pattern writer. When I had a minor issue with downloading the file, Shelley was very quick to respond and to offer help. This is still one of my all-time favourite makes. I remember thinking how much FUN it was to make as the pattern revealed itself. I'd like to make another one day ... on my list things to do.
