The pattern now includes all the information to make the rug in rope. I've made a smaller version, stopping part way through the pattern as well as remaking the whole rug.
The pattern also now includes charts!
I have wanted to make a floor rug for a very long time, so when I saw some super bulky yarn, I jumped at the chance to have a play. Radiance is the result.
For the original yarn version, I used super bulky acrylic yarn with a 9 mm crochet hook. My rug measures about 129 cm (51") from point to point.
For the Scalloped Edge Small Rope version I used 346 metres of 3mm recycled cotton rope and a 10 mm hook. (1 roll = 139 m/152 yds)
140 cm (55”) Star Pointed Large
For the Large Rope version, I used 595 metres of 3mm recycledcotton rope and a 10 mm hook. (1 roll = 139 m/152 yds)
Fine cotton works well for a lacier, more traditional doily look.
The pattern works up quite fast with only 31 rounds in total.
As always, I have provided the pattern in both UK & US terms so you can pick what you are most comfortable with.
I have made the pattern as print-friendly as I can, so you can choose to just print the written pattern and refer to the pictures on your screen if you need to check anything.
Challenging but enjoyable
I enjoyed making this pattern. I found it a bit challenging for the first few rounds, but as you get further along it makes sense and becomes easier to keep count of your stitches and the pattern. It stayed flat! and looked exactly like the picture! Would recommend
I have used the recycled rope as per a suggestion of Shelley's. The pattern/instructions were good to follow and I am very happy with the result. Only hiccup was an error on my part by not ordering 2 cones and color no longer available, however I am happy with the use of a contrast color.
